Established in 1970, the Japan America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) has nurtured interaction between the Japanese and Americans communities through the promotion of arts and culture, its participation in public policy debates, and the promotion of educational and business opportunities in the region.

JASDW President Harry C. Whalen met with GMI POST to speak about the organization’s brand of service, the region’s business ecosystem, and how JASDW and similar groups are leveraging the region’s advantages to create enduring connections that have a positive socio-economic benefit for the community.
“Diversity and hospitality are integrated into the fabric of our community. Diversity creates opportunities for meaningful friendships and invaluable interactions. Whether with the Japanese, American, or European, our EDCs and cultural societies are constantly in communication with each other and with the companies here,” said Whalen, who believes diversity has boosted innovation in the region
“We are all active and aggressive in maintaining relationships and in providing solutions to companies that are here. If they have staffing expansion plans, how can we make the introductions to appropriate organizations? If they need to move employees from Japan to Texas, how can we assist in helping them get the right documents and resources so they're not just sitting at home?” he added.
The JASDFW, according to Whalen, has organized several events for the entire year designed to promote business and cultural exchange between Japanese and American companies in the region. He also encourages all those interested in the business opportunities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to reach out to JASDFW.
