An initiative of public and private organizations and businesses, Collegio di Milano was founded in 2003 on an idea to bring together outstanding Italian and international students from seven public and private universities in Milan within a single campus and allow this diverse group to learn from and live among each other.
“The college was inspired by American-style colleges. We want to give students an opportunity to stay together and cultivate friendships and professional relationships that will last their whole life,” Communications Officer Diara Dieng told GMI POST.
To maximize the benefits of this arrangement, Collegio di Milano built an 8,000 sq. m. campus in a 30,000 sq. m. park. Each of its 170-plus students get their own room that has its own bathroom and balcony, as well as access to various recreational facilities and spaces.
For international students, Collegio di Milano organizes various activities that will prepare them for life after graduation, like seminars, workshops, and talks by guest speakers. The college also offers tutorship, to support students all along their staying there, enhancing their talents and their personal and professional growth, and a career service to support students in the comprehension of the business world and help them enter it.
As a merit-based institution, Collegio di Milano carries out a meticulous process that selects its students because of their achievements and their potential to provide their colleagues with a different cultural background.
“The fact that our students can interact with people from different universities and different fields of study allows them to acquire various point of views about the world. You can have some who study law, medicine, and communication giving their own opinions on a particular subject. And that's definitely an enriching experience,” Dieng said.
