<p>“Genoa is located in the region of Liguria. We have France to the west and Tuscany to the east. In the north, we have the Piedmont and Lombardy regions. We have the sea in front. Because of the ports of Savona and La Spezia, we can say that Liguria’s first industry is the port,” said Pietro Costa, managing director of the <a href="https://www.wtc.genova.it/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Trade Centers Association in Genoa</a>.</p>
<p>“The main activity of WTC Genoa is to help medium-sized companies establish their business abroad. We do a check-up of the company, understand its business, know its size, and dive deep in order to identify the right market and help it reach its goals,” Costa added.</p>
<p>To assist these companies further, WTC Genoa assists in organizing trade shows, setting up booths, and helping them meet potential international investors and partners.</p>
<p>Famous around the world for its locally-produced wine, olive oil, and food, particularly its pesto sauce, Genoa has more than 3,500 businesses located within the vicinity. The port moved 3 million containers of cargo last year and wants to double that number in 2023.</p>
<p>Given its connectivity and infrastructure, Genoa has so much potential, according to Costa, who is excited to bring together Italian business and international companies, especially those from Japan. As a special agency of the local chamber of commerce, WTC Genoa also has access to around 80,000 companies across the region.</p>',

<p>“AMAFOND is the Italian association of companies that supply equipment and materials to the foundry business, in other words, suppliers of aluminum and cast iron. In order to be part of AMAFOND, you must have activity in Italy. So, we are an Italian association that represents Italian suppliers,” AMAFOND President Riccardo Ferrario told GMI POST.</p>
<p>“Although Italy is famous for pizza and beautiful tourist sights, we are also very strong in heavy industries, specifically in the north. So, heavy industries, metal foundries, heavy machinery – these old but important sectors – are located here,” he added.</p>
<p>Since assuming the presidency of AMAFOND, Ferrairo has focused on publicizing information to help its members, as well as providing them with the support needed to grow both locally and internationally.</p>
<p>Asked how these companies can thrive and succeed in the future, Ferrario believes that passion to grow and eagerness to innovate are vital.</p>
<p>“If you want to grow and want to expand, then you must leverage on innovation, not on price,” he stressed.</p>',

<p>Following the working lunch at Palazzo Chigi, the official residence of the prime minister, the two leaders affirmed their commitment “to strengthen contacts at every level and open new fields (of cooperation) for citizens and companies.” They also announced that Japan and Italy will launch a bilateral foreign defense consultation mechanism during the first half of this year.</p>
<p>The defense initiative comes amid the ongoing concern over the war in Ukraine, which Kishida has said could be “tomorrow’s East Asia.” With the shifting global geopolitical situation, Japan and Italy want to maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region, which is vital to international trade.</p>
<p>“We had a long talk that started with the excellent trade relations between Italy and Japan, which has reached 12 billion euros a year,” Meloni said.</p>
<p>Leading the efforts to attract more investment from around the world is the <a href="https://www.ice.it/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Italian Trade Agenc</a>y, which was formed in 2011 and operates an office in Aoyama, Tokyo.</p>
<p>The two leaders also discussed the Global Compact Air Program, also known as Tempest. The program, spearheaded by by Italy, Japan, and the UK, aims to develop a sixth-generation vehicle that will bear significant results in civil and scientific research.</p>
<p>“Our long conversation demonstrates again that Japan, despite the geographical distance that apparently divides us, remains not only a friendly nation but a partner of central and strategic importance for Italy’s interests,” Meloni said.</p>',

<p><strong>Umbria</strong></p>
<p>With its lush landscape foliage and the small-town charm found across Tuscany, the region of Umbria in central is famous for its grapes and black truffles. Visitors come to sample its white Grechetto and red Sagrantino wines.</p>
<p>Another popular activity for tourists are truffle hunting and cooking classes.</p>
<p>Every July since 2003, the region’s capital, Perugia, also stages Umbria Jazz, one of the world’s largest jazz festivals. From June to July, the city of Spoleto holds the Festival de Due Mondi, a music and opera festival.</p>
<p><strong>Sardinia</strong></p>
<p>Not much of a well-held secret, Sardinia provides the ultimate island escape. The top attraction is the Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast, with its white sand beaches and exclusive resorts, which are frequented by celebrities, business and political leaders, as well as affluent guests.</p>
<p>Outside the Costa Smerlada, the capital Cagliari has well-preserved archeological and historic sites that go back as far as the Ancient Greeks and Romans.</p>

<p>Only a three-hour boat ride from Rome, the island of Ponza allows visitors to a quiet escape from the hustle of the Italian capital.</p>
<p>The island may not have the long stretches of beach found on other islands. But, it has unique offerings: dramatic cliffs that look out to crystal-clear waters, multicolored homes, and rustic villages.</p>
<p>The best part is the fresh seafood that dominate the local cuisine, and all at prices more reasonable than in other island resorts in Italy, like Capri.</p>
<p><strong>Bergamo</strong></p>
<p>In the older upper district of Bergamo, Citta Alta is a must-see destination. Sitting on a hilltop and accessible by funicular, the city is contained within walls built by the Venetians and characterized by its cobblestone streets.</p>

<p>The company behind the project, Sayu S.p.A., founded by CEO Hiroshi Sato, has grown into an importer and exporter of food products from both Italy and Japan over the past 23 years.</p>
<p>“We were only importing Italian products to Japan. We then wanted to bring Japanese culture to Italy when we saw that the Japanese pavilion was very popular at the World Expo 2015 in Milan. That was when we knew that we should doing something that catered to both ways.”</p>
<p>Then, the pandemic got in the way. But in the past two years, Sayu has seen business grow again and performance improve.</p>
<p>Optimistic about its future in Milan, TENOHA MILANO hopes to bring the concept around the world, where the store can become a bridge between Japan and other different cultures.</p>

Then, in 1915, then known as the Italian Aviation Company, a division of carmaker Fiat, it designed and built Italy’s first complete aircraft to help in the country’s military effort during the First World War.</p>
<p>“This is a business built on big competencies. Sometimes, we share programs and collaborate. Another key characteristic of the company is that we have a true European heart with strong European and Italian roots,” said Pierfederico Scarpa, Avia Aero’s vice president for strategy, marketing and sales.</p>
<p>More than a century later, Avia Aero, now owned by GE Aeropsace, develops commercial and military aviation technology and systems mostly for customers outside Italy and Europe. While its workforce remains mainly Italian (80%), the company set up manufacturing and R&D facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.</p>
<p>“Right now, we are working on a lot of our core products and technologies, such as transmission systems, low pressure turbines, and combustors. We also develop technologies while developing people and relationships, both nationally and internationally,” Scarpa said.</p>
<p>The company also plays a critical role in the military-industrial complex. Its engineers have and their expertise in the latest technological advancements have played factors in its recent involvement in the Global Combat Air Program (GCAP).</p>
<p>“Last year, Airbus Defense and SpaceX selected our propulsion system for the military variant of the Eurodrone, an unmanned aerial system designed for flight in non-segregated airspace,” Scarpa said.</p>
<p>The company first developed technology for the military around 50 years ago in cooperation with several international companies. It first built a power plant to cater to the needs of the aerospace sector before it went on to create the propulsion system for the Eurofighter.</p>
<p>On its global ties, Avia Aero has grown very close with Japanese, which Scarpa believes serves as a huge recognition of its capabilities, experience, products and its people.</p>
<p>“We still have a mountain to climb but we have been keeping our eyes on the military space. That is constantly evolving. That’s why we will also keep on investing on innovation and technologies because we’ll be here to deliver,” Scarpa said.</p>

<p>At the pinnacle of the operations is <a href="https://www.takeda.com/it-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Takeda Italia</a> General Manager Annarita Egidi, who met with GMI POST to discuss Takeda's plans and its continuous growth in the country.</p>
<p>“Takeda grew with the rest of the world because we went through different acquisitions that expanded our geographical footprint,” Egidi told GMI POST, referring to Takeda’s buyout of Shire.</p>
<p>“This last acquisition brought the company to be one of the biggest in Italy. In fact, we are part of the 13 biggest companies operating in Italy. Together with the manufacturing site, we have more than 1,000 employees,” she said.</p>
<p>Takeda has been a very important player in Italy’s pharmaceutical market. “Our employees are distributed between the commercial organization and the manufacturing sites.”</p>
<p>“As for the manufacturing sites, there are two of the seven plasma-derived therapies. This means that the sites produce plasma-derived treatments from the plasma donated across the world. They collaborate with the regions that collect the plasma to produce drugs donated in Italy,” Egidi said.</p>
<p>Despite the recent hurdles the pandemic brought onto the world, Takeda has managed to push itself forward because of the company’s core values that are embedded in its daily lives: integrity, honesty, perseverance, and fairness. They have called these values “Takeda-ism.”</p>
<p>“It's something that we have become very used to,” Egidi said, explaining that when someone joins the company, they “are provided with training on the values and concepts so that each employee knows our philosophy.”</p>
<p>“You join us, you join our values to make sure that we work within the right framework. We make sure the values are put in place. Japanese values together with the Italian willingness to make things good makes a winning combination,” she said.</p>',

<p>Close to the city is the picturesque Dolomite Mountain. While <a href="https://www.comune.trento.it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trento</a> is not at the top of the bucket list of many tourists, unlike Milan and Venice, it has still become a popular vacation getaway, especially for locals.</p>
<p>GMI POST spoke with Mayor Franco Ianeselli as he provided a glimpse of the city’s history.</p>
<p>“Trento is a small city in the middle of the Alps. A borderland between the Italian and German worlds. Trento is the capital of a province and region that has special autonomy. This autonomy, which is the result of a very long historical, political and legal journey, has allowed for very important transformations. Seventy years ago, Trento was a poor and backward area, but today it is one of the most advanced provinces in Italy, home to one of the country's leading universities and research centers,” Ianeselli said.</p>
<p>When asked what Trento was most famous for, the mayor proudly mentions their sparkling wine, which he says is the best of its kind.</p>
<p>“This sparkling wine is used in the official toast in the Formula One races. You may see Trento DOC when you follow the race. You have champagne in France, but in Italy, we have Trento DOC,” he said.</p>
<p>But that’s not all there is to Trento. There are other growing industries there as well.</p>
<p>“We have a strong ICT sector with the most known companies such as GPI, Data Group, and Phoenix. The region is also very much known for tourism. Other sectors on the rise are the ones in the green economy. We are known for our timber building too,” Ianeselli said.</p>
<p>Trento takes pride in the success, which was achieved through the collective effort of the local population. In recognition of this civic involvement in the city’s growth, Trento was recently named the European Volunteer Capital for 2024. For the mayor, that is the very heart and soul of the city</p>
<p>“This award makes us very proud, but it also makes us feel very responsible, because volunteering is one of the pillars of our community and we want to use this opportunity to update and strengthen it even more,” he said.</p>',

<p>Situated in Venice’s Grand Canal, at the heart of the most breathtaking and romantic cities of the world, <a href="https://www.unive.it/pag/13526" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ca’ Foscari</a> gained its credibility by putting several of its graduates in the competitive global market. </p>
<p>GMI POST had the pleasure of meeting the university’s rector, Tiziana Lippiello, as she proudly talks about Ca’ Foscari’s strengths and what it has been doing to enhance the experience of each of its students.</p>
<p>Lippiello said that the university’s Interdisciplinary Studies program is at the forefront of Ca’ Foscari’s offerings.</p>
<p>“This is where we combine the study of management economics with languages. For instance, we have a program called Languages and Management in China. We also do the same with Japanese Studies,” Lippiello explained.</p>
<p>While the school recruits more Japanese students, the university is also advancing its internationalization programs for further collaboration in Japan and with industries associated with Japan, such as its two double degree programs in nanotechnologies.</p>
<p>“I would like to have more Japanese students in Ca’ Foscari,” said Lippiello, who went to Japan in 2019 to visit some universities there.</p>
<p>“I think that international experience is very important when it comes to opening the minds of students and getting to know other culture,” she said.</p>
<p>Lippiello believes that the students will truly enjoy their time at the university because Italy is a rich country that offers extraordinary experience and, with its career placement program, Ca’ Foscari University is more than ready to welcome students who are open to learning and experiencing a richer life.</p>',

<p><a href="https://www.mazakeu.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yamazaki Mazak</a> set up an office in Italy in 1989. Since then, the Milan-based operations has grown to become the company’s largest in Europe.</p>
<p>“From 2015 until now, we have hired more than 45 people. In terms of territorial coverage and service, I can say that we are the best one in Italy. We have also increased the number of sales people in our territory. In 2015, we had between 40 and 48 people in sales. Now, we are over 60. This means higher availability, higher accuracy, and higher value,” Yamazaki Mazak Italia Managing Director Marco Casanova told GMI POST.</p>
<p>Casanova attributes part of the company’s success to the American-style management that it adopted.</p>
<p>“We make decisions horizontally, which means that all the employees are really involved in the strategic decisions,” he said.</p>
<p>While the machine tool business is cyclical and goes through seasonal slowdowns, Casanova believes that Yamazaki Mazak Italia will continue to grow because its mostly Italian clientele values the Japanese brand of quality control.</p>
<p>“The Japan headquarters appreciates the way Italians talk to our dealers. We have won their trust, which takes a lot. It also takes a while to build confidence with Japanese. But when you do, this is forever,” Casanova said.</p>',

We have over 2,700 lawyers globally. In Milan, our practice employs about 80 people, 60 of which are lawyers. A lot of what we do involves a group made up not only of Italian attorneys,” White & Case Partner Michael Immordino told GMI POST.</p>

<p>“The college was inspired by American-style colleges. We want to give students an opportunity to stay together and cultivate friendships and professional relationships that will last their whole life,” Communications Officer Diara Dieng told GMI POST.</p>
<p>To maximize the benefits of this arrangement, <a href="https://www.collegiodimilano.it/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Collegio di Milano</a> built an 8,000 sq. m. campus in a 30,000 sq. m. park. Each of its 170-plus students get their own room that has its own bathroom and balcony, as well as access to various recreational facilities and spaces.</p>
<p>For international students, Collegio di Milano organizes various activities that will prepare them for life after graduation, like seminars, workshops, and talks by guest speakers. The college also offers tutorship, to support students all along their staying there, enhancing their talents and their personal and professional growth, and a career service to support students in the comprehension of the business world and help them enter it.</p>
<p>As a merit-based institution, Collegio di Milano carries out a meticulous process that selects its students because of their achievements and their potential to provide their colleagues with a different cultural background.</p>
<p>“The fact that our students can interact with people from different universities and different fields of study allows them to acquire various point of views about the world. You can have some who study law, medicine, and communication giving their own opinions on a particular subject. And that's definitely an enriching experience,” Dieng said. </p>',

<p>Another popular activity for tourists are truffle hunting and cooking classes.</p>
<p>Every July since 2003, the region’s capital, Perugia, also stages Umbria Jazz, one of the world’s largest jazz festivals. From June to July, the city of Spoleto holds the Festival de Due Mondi, a music and opera festival.</p>
<p><strong>Sardinia</strong></p>
<p>Not much of a well-held secret, Sardinia provides the ultimate island escape. The top attraction is the Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast, with its white sand beaches and exclusive resorts, which are frequented by celebrities, business and political leaders, as well as affluent guests.</p>

<p>The island may not have the long stretches of beach found on other islands. But, it has unique offerings: dramatic cliffs that look out to crystal-clear waters, multicolored homes, and rustic villages.</p>
<p>The best part is the fresh seafood that dominate the local cuisine, and all at prices more reasonable than in other island resorts in Italy, like Capri.</p>
<p><strong>Bergamo</strong></p>
<p>In the older upper district of Bergamo, Citta Alta is a must-see destination. Sitting on a hilltop and accessible by funicular, the city is contained within walls built by the Venetians and characterized by its cobblestone streets.</p>
<p>A visit will feel like a step back in time. Wander the streets aimlessly, marvel at the centuries-old churches, and allow the city to work its magic organically.</p>',

<p>“Genoa is located in the region of Liguria. We have France to the west and Tuscany to the east. In the north, we have the Piedmont and Lombardy regions. We have the sea in front. Because of the ports of Savona and La Spezia, we can say that Liguria’s first industry is the port,” said Pietro Costa, managing director of the <a href="https://www.wtc.genova.it/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Trade Centers Association in Genoa</a>.</p>
<p>“The main activity of WTC Genoa is to help medium-sized companies establish their business abroad. We do a check-up of the company, understand its business, know its size, and dive deep in order to identify the right market and help it reach its goals,” Costa added.</p>
<p>To assist these companies further, WTC Genoa assists in organizing trade shows, setting up booths, and helping them meet potential international investors and partners.</p>
<p>Famous around the world for its locally-produced wine, olive oil, and food, particularly its pesto sauce, Genoa has more than 3,500 businesses located within the vicinity. The port moved 3 million containers of cargo last year and wants to double that number in 2023.</p>
<p>Given its connectivity and infrastructure, Genoa has so much potential, according to Costa, who is excited to bring together Italian business and international companies, especially those from Japan. As a special agency of the local chamber of commerce, WTC Genoa also has access to around 80,000 companies across the region.</p>',

<p>“AMAFOND is the Italian association of companies that supply equipment and materials to the foundry business, in other words, suppliers of aluminum and cast iron. In order to be part of AMAFOND, you must have activity in Italy. So, we are an Italian association that represents Italian suppliers,” AMAFOND President Riccardo Ferrario told GMI POST.</p>
<p>“Although Italy is famous for pizza and beautiful tourist sights, we are also very strong in heavy industries, specifically in the north. So, heavy industries, metal foundries, heavy machinery – these old but important sectors – are located here,” he added.</p>
<p>Since assuming the presidency of AMAFOND, Ferrairo has focused on publicizing information to help its members, as well as providing them with the support needed to grow both locally and internationally.</p>
<p>Asked how these companies can thrive and succeed in the future, Ferrario believes that passion to grow and eagerness to innovate are vital.</p>
<p>“If you want to grow and want to expand, then you must leverage on innovation, not on price,” he stressed.</p>',

<p>Following the working lunch at Palazzo Chigi, the official residence of the prime minister, the two leaders affirmed their commitment “to strengthen contacts at every level and open new fields (of cooperation) for citizens and companies.” They also announced that Japan and Italy will launch a bilateral foreign defense consultation mechanism during the first half of this year.</p>
<p>The defense initiative comes amid the ongoing concern over the war in Ukraine, which Kishida has said could be “tomorrow’s East Asia.” With the shifting global geopolitical situation, Japan and Italy want to maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region, which is vital to international trade.</p>
<p>“We had a long talk that started with the excellent trade relations between Italy and Japan, which has reached 12 billion euros a year,” Meloni said.</p>
<p>Leading the efforts to attract more investment from around the world is the <a href="https://www.ice.it/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Italian Trade Agenc</a>y, which was formed in 2011 and operates an office in Aoyama, Tokyo.</p>
<p>The two leaders also discussed the Global Compact Air Program, also known as Tempest. The program, spearheaded by by Italy, Japan, and the UK, aims to develop a sixth-generation vehicle that will bear significant results in civil and scientific research.</p>
<p>“Our long conversation demonstrates again that Japan, despite the geographical distance that apparently divides us, remains not only a friendly nation but a partner of central and strategic importance for Italy’s interests,” Meloni said.</p>',

<p>The company behind the project, Sayu S.p.A., founded by CEO Hiroshi Sato, has grown into an importer and exporter of food products from both Italy and Japan over the past 23 years.</p>
<p>“We were only importing Italian products to Japan. We then wanted to bring Japanese culture to Italy when we saw that the Japanese pavilion was very popular at the World Expo 2015 in Milan. That was when we knew that we should doing something that catered to both ways.”</p>
<p>Then, the pandemic got in the way. But in the past two years, Sayu has seen business grow again and performance improve.</p>
<p>Optimistic about its future in Milan, TENOHA MILANO hopes to bring the concept around the world, where the store can become a bridge between Japan and other different cultures.</p>

'content' => '<p>A true pioneer in Italy’s aviation history, Turin-based Avio Aero helped in making the first aircraft engine in the country in 1908. Then, in 1915, then known as the Italian Aviation Company, a division of carmaker Fiat, it designed and built Italy’s first complete aircraft to help in the country’s military effort during the First World War.</p>
<p>“This is a business built on big competencies. Sometimes, we share programs and collaborate. Another key characteristic of the company is that we have a true European heart with strong European and Italian roots,” said Pierfederico Scarpa, Avia Aero’s vice president for strategy, marketing and sales.</p>
<p>More than a century later, Avia Aero, now owned by GE Aeropsace, develops commercial and military aviation technology and systems mostly for customers outside Italy and Europe. While its workforce remains mainly Italian (80%), the company set up manufacturing and R&D facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.</p>
<p>“Right now, we are working on a lot of our core products and technologies, such as transmission systems, low pressure turbines, and combustors. We also develop technologies while developing people and relationships, both nationally and internationally,” Scarpa said.</p>
<p>The company also plays a critical role in the military-industrial complex. Its engineers have and their expertise in the latest technological advancements have played factors in its recent involvement in the Global Combat Air Program (GCAP).</p>
<p>“Last year, Airbus Defense and SpaceX selected our propulsion system for the military variant of the Eurodrone, an unmanned aerial system designed for flight in non-segregated airspace,” Scarpa said.</p>
<p>The company first developed technology for the military around 50 years ago in cooperation with several international companies. It first built a power plant to cater to the needs of the aerospace sector before it went on to create the propulsion system for the Eurofighter.</p>
<p>On its global ties, Avia Aero has grown very close with Japanese, which Scarpa believes serves as a huge recognition of its capabilities, experience, products and its people.</p>
<p>“We still have a mountain to climb but we have been keeping our eyes on the military space. That is constantly evolving. That’s why we will also keep on investing on innovation and technologies because we’ll be here to deliver,” Scarpa said.</p>

<p>At the pinnacle of the operations is <a href="https://www.takeda.com/it-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Takeda Italia</a> General Manager Annarita Egidi, who met with GMI POST to discuss Takeda's plans and its continuous growth in the country.</p>
<p>“Takeda grew with the rest of the world because we went through different acquisitions that expanded our geographical footprint,” Egidi told GMI POST, referring to Takeda’s buyout of Shire.</p>
<p>“This last acquisition brought the company to be one of the biggest in Italy. In fact, we are part of the 13 biggest companies operating in Italy. Together with the manufacturing site, we have more than 1,000 employees,” she said.</p>
<p>Takeda has been a very important player in Italy’s pharmaceutical market. “Our employees are distributed between the commercial organization and the manufacturing sites.”</p>
<p>“As for the manufacturing sites, there are two of the seven plasma-derived therapies. This means that the sites produce plasma-derived treatments from the plasma donated across the world. They collaborate with the regions that collect the plasma to produce drugs donated in Italy,” Egidi said.</p>
<p>Despite the recent hurdles the pandemic brought onto the world, Takeda has managed to push itself forward because of the company’s core values that are embedded in its daily lives: integrity, honesty, perseverance, and fairness. They have called these values “Takeda-ism.”</p>
<p>“It's something that we have become very used to,” Egidi said, explaining that when someone joins the company, they “are provided with training on the values and concepts so that each employee knows our philosophy.”</p>
<p>“You join us, you join our values to make sure that we work within the right framework. We make sure the values are put in place. Japanese values together with the Italian willingness to make things good makes a winning combination,” she said.</p>',

<p>Close to the city is the picturesque Dolomite Mountain. While <a href="https://www.comune.trento.it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trento</a> is not at the top of the bucket list of many tourists, unlike Milan and Venice, it has still become a popular vacation getaway, especially for locals.</p>
<p>GMI POST spoke with Mayor Franco Ianeselli as he provided a glimpse of the city’s history.</p>
<p>“Trento is a small city in the middle of the Alps. A borderland between the Italian and German worlds. Trento is the capital of a province and region that has special autonomy. This autonomy, which is the result of a very long historical, political and legal journey, has allowed for very important transformations. Seventy years ago, Trento was a poor and backward area, but today it is one of the most advanced provinces in Italy, home to one of the country's leading universities and research centers,” Ianeselli said.</p>
<p>When asked what Trento was most famous for, the mayor proudly mentions their sparkling wine, which he says is the best of its kind.</p>
<p>“This sparkling wine is used in the official toast in the Formula One races. You may see Trento DOC when you follow the race. You have champagne in France, but in Italy, we have Trento DOC,” he said.</p>
<p>But that’s not all there is to Trento. There are other growing industries there as well.</p>
<p>“We have a strong ICT sector with the most known companies such as GPI, Data Group, and Phoenix. The region is also very much known for tourism. Other sectors on the rise are the ones in the green economy. We are known for our timber building too,” Ianeselli said.</p>
<p>Trento takes pride in the success, which was achieved through the collective effort of the local population. In recognition of this civic involvement in the city’s growth, Trento was recently named the European Volunteer Capital for 2024. For the mayor, that is the very heart and soul of the city</p>
<p>“This award makes us very proud, but it also makes us feel very responsible, because volunteering is one of the pillars of our community and we want to use this opportunity to update and strengthen it even more,” he said.</p>',

<p>Situated in Venice’s Grand Canal, at the heart of the most breathtaking and romantic cities of the world, <a href="https://www.unive.it/pag/13526" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ca’ Foscari</a> gained its credibility by putting several of its graduates in the competitive global market. </p>
<p>GMI POST had the pleasure of meeting the university’s rector, Tiziana Lippiello, as she proudly talks about Ca’ Foscari’s strengths and what it has been doing to enhance the experience of each of its students.</p>
<p>Lippiello said that the university’s Interdisciplinary Studies program is at the forefront of Ca’ Foscari’s offerings.</p>
<p>“This is where we combine the study of management economics with languages. For instance, we have a program called Languages and Management in China. We also do the same with Japanese Studies,” Lippiello explained.</p>
<p>While the school recruits more Japanese students, the university is also advancing its internationalization programs for further collaboration in Japan and with industries associated with Japan, such as its two double degree programs in nanotechnologies.</p>
<p>“I would like to have more Japanese students in Ca’ Foscari,” said Lippiello, who went to Japan in 2019 to visit some universities there.</p>
<p>“I think that international experience is very important when it comes to opening the minds of students and getting to know other culture,” she said.</p>
<p>Lippiello believes that the students will truly enjoy their time at the university because Italy is a rich country that offers extraordinary experience and, with its career placement program, Ca’ Foscari University is more than ready to welcome students who are open to learning and experiencing a richer life.</p>',

<p><a href="https://www.mazakeu.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yamazaki Mazak</a> set up an office in Italy in 1989. Since then, the Milan-based operations has grown to become the company’s largest in Europe.</p>
<p>“From 2015 until now, we have hired more than 45 people. In terms of territorial coverage and service, I can say that we are the best one in Italy. We have also increased the number of sales people in our territory. In 2015, we had between 40 and 48 people in sales. Now, we are over 60. This means higher availability, higher accuracy, and higher value,” Yamazaki Mazak Italia Managing Director Marco Casanova told GMI POST.</p>
<p>Casanova attributes part of the company’s success to the American-style management that it adopted.</p>
<p>“We make decisions horizontally, which means that all the employees are really involved in the strategic decisions,” he said.</p>
<p>While the machine tool business is cyclical and goes through seasonal slowdowns, Casanova believes that Yamazaki Mazak Italia will continue to grow because its mostly Italian clientele values the Japanese brand of quality control.</p>
<p>“The Japan headquarters appreciates the way Italians talk to our dealers. We have won their trust, which takes a lot. It also takes a while to build confidence with Japanese. But when you do, this is forever,” Casanova said.</p>',

Each of its 170-plus students get their own room that has its own bathroom and balcony, as well as access to various recreational facilities and spaces.</p>
<p>For international students, Collegio di Milano organizes various activities that will prepare them for life after graduation, like seminars, workshops, and talks by guest speakers. <p><strong>Umbria</strong></p>
<p>With its lush landscape foliage and the small-town charm found across Tuscany, the region of Umbria in central is famous for its grapes and black truffles. Visitors come to sample its white Grechetto and red Sagrantino wines.</p>
<p>Another popular activity for tourists are truffle hunting and cooking classes.</p>
<p>Every July since 2003, the region’s capital, Perugia, also stages Umbria Jazz, one of the world’s largest jazz festivals. From June to July, the city of Spoleto holds the Festival de Due Mondi, a music and opera festival.</p>
<p><strong>Sardinia</strong></p>
<p>Not much of a well-held secret, Sardinia provides the ultimate island escape. The top attraction is the Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast, with its white sand beaches and exclusive resorts, which are frequented by celebrities, business and political leaders, as well as affluent guests.</p>
<p>Outside the Costa Smerlada, the capital Cagliari has well-preserved archeological and historic sites that go back as far as the Ancient Greeks and Romans.</p>
<p><strong>Ponza</strong></p>
<p>Only a three-hour boat ride from Rome, the island of Ponza allows visitors to a quiet escape from the hustle of the Italian capital.</p>
<p>The island may not have the long stretches of beach found on other islands. But, it has unique offerings: dramatic cliffs that look out to crystal-clear waters, multicolored homes, and rustic villages.</p>
<p>The best part is the fresh seafood that dominate the local cuisine, and all at prices more reasonable than in other island resorts in Italy, like Capri.</p>
<p><strong>Bergamo</strong></p>
<p>In the older upper district of Bergamo, Citta Alta is a must-see destination. Sitting on a hilltop and accessible by funicular, the city is contained within walls built by the Venetians and characterized by its cobblestone streets.</p>
<p>A visit will feel like a step back in time. Wander the streets aimlessly, marvel at the centuries-old churches, and allow the city to work its magic organically.</p>',
