For more than 40 years, the Bullitt County Economic Development Authority has successfully lured families and business to relocate to the area, highlighting its natural landscape and surroundings with its lush forests, rolling hills, and clean lakes and rivers.
Bullitt County Economic Development Authority Executive Director pointed out that 2021 saw its second-best performance in terms of economic growth. Out of 9 million square feet of available land, the county was able to lease out 4.3 million square feet last year. Fouts is very optimistic about next year.
In normal circumstances, according to Fouts, a lot of office and commercial space in the area remains on the market for six months even after construction. In the past eight months, there are spaces that are contracted for leasing even before completion of construction.
“The county grew through the last recession because of our location and the availability of buildings,” he said.
On Bullitt County’s international business, Fouts said there were about six companies that were exporting their products, such as transmission parts and diesel engine parts to Japan, which contributed heavily to the area’s economy.
Fouts is encouraging potential investors from Japan to consider coming to Bullitt County and checking out the various opportunities.
“We are seeking more manufacturing. We will work with them to make their businesses successful,” he said.
