Founded in 1991, Jankovic Popovic Mitic (JPM) is the oldest commercial law firm in Serbia and serves some of the country’s biggest domestic businesses and foreign multinational companies operating in the country and Southeastern Europe. Senior Partner Nenad Popovic tells GMI POST how the full-service firm makes the move to Serbia smoother for foreign investors.
“We are not only a commercial law firm,” said Popovic, who highlights that JPM also provides its international clients with key insights on the local market and formulates innovative solutions for every industry, from energy, banking, transport, manufacturing and telecommunications. Recent reports, including those from the National Bank of Serbia and the Development Agency of Serbia (RAS), have indicated a steady rise in foreign investments in the country.
“Serbia is a very good place to invest because the country is a gateway, both to the east and to the west. Serbia’s laws are up to EU standards and under Serbian law, foreign investors are entitled to use their own laws in their commercial dealings,” said Popovic, who mentions that several foreign multinationals were drawn to the country because of its huge pool of highly-skilled workers and hospitable locals.
JPM, according to Popovic, is ready to serve foreign multinationals by understanding all their business needs and give them clear, effective advice on breaking new ground in Serbia.
