Over the past 25 years, Alimentos y Frutos (Alifrut) has grown to become the largest frozen fruits and vegetables producer in Latin America and continues to prioritize its partnerships in Japan, which accounts for 20% of its export business.
Alifrut, whose products are distributed under the local brand Minuto Verde, has also built a wide network of clients across the rest of Asia, as well as North America, South America, Europe and Australia.
“We have a strong presence in Japan. We are in the food service, retail and the industrial segments. We’ve been working there since the formation of the company,” Alimentos y Frutos CEO Gonzalo Bachelet said.
“We’re always looking for new solutions for our partners. It’s a very diversified market for us. In the near future we’ll be looking at exporting organic products to them,” Bachelet added.
Alifrut’s most popular exports to Japan, known for its very discriminating consumers, are asparagus, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and grapes. These products are found in AEON supermarkets and used by Nosui Corp., a maker and exporter of sushi toppings.
For Bachelet, based on its strong and long-running relationship with its Japanese partners, other importers from the rest of the world can be confident about the quality of its products.
